Following the Christmas break, Thursday Café has continued to operate, as the name suggests, each Thursday from 11.00am to 1300pm in the Morison Duncan Hall. We welcome the regulars for their weekly opportunity to enjoy the goodies the café has to offer, as well as the opportunity to meet up with friends and neighbours. We also hope to see new faces at our Thursday morning gatherings – please come and enjoy the hospitality that is on offer. Working from home? Take a lunch break at the café. All prices are extremely low and good value for the quality on offer.
The hard work put in by our volunteers enables us to offer homemade soup and roll, sausage rolls, a range of sandwiches and various cakes and scones with either tea or coffee. We also cater for those who are vegetarian or gluten intolerant. After costs are deducted from the takings, some of the money accumulated goes to Hall Funds and Gauldry in Bloom. We have the occasional fund-raising Thursday when all takings go to a nominated charities, the last of which raised £510 for a MacMillans Coffee morning appeal. Many thanks to all who contributed to this very worthy cause.
The cafe is generally closed when the Schools are on holiday. Consequently, it will not open on the 2nd, the 9th and 16th April for the Easter Break. The last date of opening will be 25th June prior to the Summer Break. It will also be closed on the 7th May when the Hall will be used for the local elections.
The team running the cafe enjoy this time spent together each Thursday providing this service and we feel that it forms an important part of life for many in the village and its surrounds. We appreciate the support given to us each week by your attendance.
Needless to say, we rely very much on the generosity of those who provide the food on offer. Without them, the cafe would not be what it is and we thank them all for their work and their support. However, we are always in need of extra volunteers to either bake, make soup or help in any way on a Thursday morning. If you are that person or know of anyone who is willing to lend a hand, not necessarily on a regular basis, please speak to one of the team.
Once again, thank you all for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you in the cafe each Thursday morning. To any newcomer to the area, please come along and see what we have to offer - you will be made very welcome.
Happy Easter
