Thursday Cafe continues to provide an opportunity for people to meet and have an inexpensive bite to eat in a convivial atmosphere in the Morison Duncan Hall most Thursday mornings from 11-00 am until 1-00 pm except school holidays.

The food on offer generally consists of homemade soup and roll, sausage rolls and various cakes and scones with either tea or coffee to drink. After costs are deducted from the takings, some of the money accumulated goes to Hall Funds, Gauldry in Bloom and nominated charities. Some funds are used to enhance the facilities for providing the service that the Cafe provides.

The team running the cafe enjoy this time spent together each Thursday. Vicky would be very pleased with how things are going and we always feel that she continues to look down on us each Thursday when the cafe is open. It forms a very important part of life for many in the village and its surrounds that closing down would have left a big black hole in people’s lives. We continue to provide a facility for all ages and we have had some very busy weeks when all tables were in use.

We rely very much on the generosity of those who make the goodies on offer each Thursday. Without them, the cafe would not be what it is and we thank them all for their work and support for the cafe. However, we are always in need of extra volunteers to either bake, make soup or help in any way. We have had a positive response for cake makers. for which we are very grateful, but we do need some extra help with soup making from time to time. If you are that person or know of anyone who is willing to lend a hand, not necessarily on a regular basis, please speak to one of the team. We would also like more help in the cafe itself, once again at times to suit. The team will be most appreciative of any assistance that can be given and any costs incurred will be reimbursed.

Thr last day of opening before the summer break will be 27th June. As has been the case in the past, this will be a fund raiser and all proceeds will go to Cancer Research, a charity that is very dear to many who attend and volunteer. We can confirm that Β£543 was raised on the day for this charity.

The cafe will reopen on 5th September following the summer break when I am sure that there will be plenty to chat about.

We thank you all for your continued support and look forward to seeing you in the cafe each Thursday morning. To any newcomer to the area, Please come along and see what we have to offer - you will be made very wecome.
